The Smile Hub Oral Health Screen and Exam

At Smile Hub we take health screening seriously and have developed a more thorough version of your typical dental check-up. Our Total Oral Health Screen is a standardised check-up which examines over 20 different areas of your oral health.

When required we take dental x-rays to check the areas between your teeth and the level of bone that supports your teeth. At the end of your appointment your dentist will give you a verbal report on the health of your mouth.

We use the latest scanning technology from iTero. We routinely scan every patient every examination to be able to provide a highly detailed view of a patient’s oral health. This provides us with a model we can use to closely monitor any areas of concern in the future.

Digital scanning and screening

Our dental x-rays are digital and processed in seconds while you wait. Common issues we closely monitor are gum recession, tooth wear and tooth crowding.

iTero technology enables us to monitor these concerns with a 0.2mm accuracy. This gold standard level of care means we can give very accurate advice because of such a thorough examination.

Dental Exam FAQS

Why are dental exams important?

We know that prevention is indeed better than a cure, and that’s why regular dental appointments play a vital role in maintaining your oral health. Our Total Oral Health Screens (TOHS) are designed to catch any signs of damage or decay in your teeth at their earliest stages. By identifying issues early, we can prevent them from escalating into more significant problems.

How long is a dental exam?

Our dental exam appointments are 40 minutes, we take dental health screening seriously and have developed a more thorough version of your typical dental check-up. Our Total Oral Health Screen is a standardised check-up which examines over 20 different areas of your oral health.

How important are dental hygeine appointments?

There are proven links between our oral health and heart disease, stroke, diabetes, dementia, arthritis, and pregnancy complications.

By maintaining good oral health, you are helping to reduce your risk of other systemic diseases.

Consistent dental hygiene is the key to a healthy mouth and a confident smile. Our hygiene experts understand that most dental problems can be easily prevented through a regular program of hygiene checks, advice and daily control.

If you have ever experienced bad breath, tooth decay or gum disease, the most likely cause of these is bacterial plaque, which can be controlled by effective dental hygiene.

At your hygiene appointment our hygiene team will screen your gums to check the health and advise accordingly. The regular, professional removal of plaque and tartar will promote healthy gums.
