During teeth whitening, a carefully controlled concentration of peroxide gel is applied to your teeth overnight using custom fit trays. These bespoke trays are constructed from a scan taken by your dentist and fit your mouth perfectly, holding the whitening gel safely and snuggly in place. In some cases, we may need to make more than one tooth whitening tray to get the best results and this included in your fees.
Advanced teeth whitening requires approximately 12 weeks of home tooth whitening in addition to review appointments to monitor your progress.
Before the whitening procedure can begin, it is a legal requirement, in the UK, to carry out a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, including necessary x-rays. Once your dentist is happy that whitening is appropriate for your teeth, we can start with the scan and photos of your teeth. You will need to use the kit on consecutive nights to get the best results and a lasting change in colour. Your case will be closely monitored by your dentist and we use before and after photos to validate the improvement in colour.
At Smile Hub, we take health screening seriously and have developed a more thorough version of your typical dental check-up. The oral health screen is included in your whitening treatment fee to ensure optimal oral health for our patients.
When required, we take dental x-rays to check the areas between your teeth and the level of bone that supports your teeth. At the end of your assesment, your dentist will give you a verbal report on the health of your mouth. We highlight what is healthy and needs to be maintained, as well as any areas that require improvement. We have an intra-oral camera that we can use to show you what is going on in your own mouth and record any areas we are monitoring.
