Dental plaque is the sticky layer of bacteria that constantly forms on our teeth. Some foods, such as sweet snacks and starches can increase the formation of plaque, which can sometimes remain hidden between the teeth and underneath the gum line.
The bacteria in dental plaque release acids, which can lead to cavities and gum inflammation. Our hygiene team will show you how to remove plaque yourself to improve your gum health between visits.
A powerful yet controlled jet of water, air and fine powder not only polishes all the surfaces of a tooth, removing plaque, discoloration and soft deposits, but also reaches deep into periodontal pockets up to a depth of 5 mm.
It is very effective at removing the damaging biofilm that develops when dental plaque is colonized by bacteria and can cause periodontitis and peri-implantitis to develop.
Air polish leaves your teeth feeling super clean and smooth and whiter if you have stains from tea, coffee and red wine.
Air polish is an additional £45.
Our hygienists have had additional training to be able to offer complex treatment when required. This usually involves treatment with local anaesthetic and multiple visits to be able to clean an area thoroughly.
Care plans for this are on a individual basis and either your Smile Hub Dentist or Hygienist would advise if this is recommended.
Our Spitalfields clinic is located in the heart of the local community, at 8a Brushfield Street, E1 6AN. We’re conveniently placed, whether you work or live in the area, or both! We are also just a 5-minute walk from Liverpool Street station for those travelling to the City of London by tube.
Absolutely! Many of our patients work in the City, but live further afield. Visiting us rather than a dentist near home makes it easier to fit dental appointments and treatments around your working day. And we’re so close to great transport links that getting here is easy!
We’re open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm and by appointment only on Saturdays.
We offer a complete range of emergency dental care at our welcoming and modern clinic in London’s E1. If you require emergency dental care please call us as soon as possible in the morning. We will always endeavour to see emergency patients on the day that they call.
We recommend our patients have a dental hygienist appointment at least every 12 months, or as often as you can. Seeing your dental hygienist at Smile Hub Spitalfields regularly will help to keep your teeth and gums clean and free of plaque, which reduces infections and tooth decay, and subsequently the need for restorative dental treatments.
Our high-quality hygiene treatments include cleaning, gum care, scaling, polishing and tailored oral hygiene advice. We’ve invested in the latest Swiss technology in hygiene therapy and are the only practice in the City of London that is GBT Certified - going above and beyond a standard dental hygiene appointment.
Yes! At Smile Hub we take health screening seriously and have developed our own Total Oral Health Screen. This is a standardised examination that checks over 20 different areas of your oral health. With the help of digital scanning and screening, your dentist can highlight what is healthy and needs to be maintained, as well as any areas that may require improvement.
