Our dental clinic is open and you can read our COVID-safe procedures here.
We have unfortunately had to temporarily stop our beauty treatments in line with Government regulations. All existing appointments will be rescheduled.
Our modern City of London Smile Hub clinics are able to provide routine and complex root canal (endodontic) treatments on site and are very competitively priced.
"The reception helped me fast track my appointment because I needed an emergency Root Canal Treatment. Dr. James Fitton was not only proficient in fixing the issue but was also very kind throughout treatment."
A tooth that has infection within the pulp/nerve will always require intervention. Without treatment, infection will spread, causing bone degeneration and tooth loosening. The only alternative to root canal therapy is extraction.
Our root canal team at Spitalfields includes highly skilled dentist James Fitton, who is currently in the final stages of his specialist training in Endodontics at the prestigious King’s College, London.
Whether you require a routine root canal treatment or have a more complex case, you can trust our team to provide the highest standard of care. Typically booking appointments within the same week and treatments performed in just one appointment, set us apart from several practices in the vicinity, where waitlists of up to two weeks are common.
Your dentist will undertake tests to confirm if root canal treatment is necessary and then explain the procedure.
You may need up to three appointments for this treatment to be completed. Once a local anaesthetic has been administered, a rubber dam is placed to ensure that no dental fluids or bacteria from saliva can enter the area being treated.
The damaged pulp chamber is accessed and cleaned of diseased tissue before it is filled. The final step of your procedure will seal the root canal with a protective rubber root filling. If multiple appointments are required, a temporary filling will be used to seal the area between appointments.
When the root canal treatment is completed your dentist will review if the tooth can be restored with a tooth coloured filling or a porcelain crown.
At Smile Hub, we employ cutting-edge technology to ensure the most precise and effective root canal treatments.
One of the key tools we utilise is the advanced dental microscope. This powerful instrument provides visual clarity, enabling our skilled endodontist, James Fitton, to navigate the intricate root canal system with unmatched precision. Even the tiniest canals and hidden complexities are brought into clear view, allowing for thorough cleaning, shaping, and sealing of the root canals.
This technology ensures that every procedure is executed with the utmost accuracy, minimising discomfort and maximising the success rates of our treatments. By utilising this cutting-edge tool, Dr. Fitton can offer a more conservative treatment, ensuring that minimal tooth structure is removed, preserving the integrity of your tooth.
Whether you require a routine root canal treatment or have a more complex case, you can trust our team to provide the highest standard of care.
Our highly experienced endodontist, Dr James Fitton qualified as a dentist from the University of Leeds with merit. He began working in a general dental practice in Edinburgh, and shortly after undertook two years as a senior house officer in restorative dentistry as well as oral and maxillofacial surgery in London and Bath respectively.
James was awarded membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2018 and started his additional 3 -year training as a specialist endodontist at the prestigious King’s College, London in 2020. He will be completing his qualification in 2023.
Root canal treatment becomes necessary when the pulp inside a tooth becomes infected or damaged due to deep cavities, cracks, trauma, or dental disease. This treatment relieves pain and the spread of infection, and ultimately saves a tooth that would otherwise require extraction. After the procedure, the tooth will be restored in appearance and functionality by our highly skilled dental team.
Dr Fitton will remove the infected tissue inside your tooth and clean the root canal system to prevent infection from coming back. He will use a microscope to inspect the tooth thoroughly and fill the root canal system with a special rubber material.
Most root filled teeth require a porcelain cover and you will be referred back to your dentist for this procedure.
The procedure should feel no different to having a filling. There may be some tenderness when your local anaesthetic wears off, but usually this can be easily managed with painkillers.
At SmileHub, the cost of our root canal treatment comprises two components. A root canal consultation is typically priced at £160, but if our experienced endodontist, can assess the necessary treatment from an existing X-ray, you may avoid this fee*.
The root canal treatment itself starts at £975, with the final cost depending on factors like the complexity of the procedure. During your consultation, Dr James Fitton will provide a personalised treatment plan with a breakdown of costs, ensuring transparency. We offer 0% interest options to help spread the cost of your root canal treatment comfortably. Speak to one of our friendly team members for more information.
